Reaction Steps
Hydrogen chloride (2 mol/l) solution in diethyl ether (0.7 ml) was added to the methanol (20 ml) solution of (4,5,6,7-tetrahydropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrazin-2-yl)-methanol (1.08 g) and 2-methylsulfanyl-4,5-dihydrothiazole (1.03 g). The reaction mixture was refluxed for 4 days. The mixture was quenched with small amount of saturated potassium carbonate solution, dried (MgSO4) and filtered. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was applied to silica-gel column chromatography, then the column was eluted with 10% methanol in chloroform. The titled compound was obtained as a white solid (1.49 g, 89%).
