Mercaptoethanol (0.073 mL) was added to N-[6-chloro-2-[(3S)-3-[(methylsulfonyl)oxy]-1-pyrrolidinyl]-5-quinolinyl]-cyclohexaneacetamide (Example 33(a)) (0.1 g) and potassium carbonate (0.24 g) in dry N,N-dimethylformamide. The reaction mixture was heated at 60° C. in a microwave for 2 hours and then partitioned between water and ethyl acetate. The combined organics were washed with brine, dried and concentrated. Purification (SiO2, methanol:dichloromethane 3:97 as eluant) gave the sub-titled compound as a solid (0.05 g).
