Procedure
6-Chloro-2-(2-methoxy-ethyl)-9H-purine (0.5 g, 2.4 mmol, synthesized by following the procedure reported by Crespo and al.(Journal of Medicinal Chemistry, 1998, Vol. 41, No. 21, p. 4024) was heated in morpholine (1 mL, 5 eq) at 150° C. for 15 minutes. Reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and distributed between dichloromethane and water. Organic layer was washed 2 times with water, then with brine, dried over MgSO4 and 2-(2-methoxy-ethyl)6-morpholin-4-yl-9H-purine (0.46 g, 75%) was isolated by column chromatography.
