Reaction Steps
6-Bromo-7-methyl-2-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (Example 259) (0.11 g, 0.34 mmol) was dissolved in methanol (15 ml) and iron powder (0.097 g, 1.70 mmol) was added. Conc. HCl (1.8 ml) was added dropwise over 15 min. and the reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. Methanol was partly removed by evaporation, after which water and ammonia were added. The aqueous phase was extracted with CHCl3, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and evaporated to yield the product (81.2 mg, 78%).
