To a stirred solution of 4,5-dichloro-2-methoxymethyl-2H-pyridazin-3one (500 mg, 2.39 mmol) in methanol (12 mL) at room temperature was added sodium methoxide (258 mg, 4.78 mmol). After stirred for 2 h, the reaction was concentrated. To this residue was added water (20 mL), then extracted with CH2Cl2 (2×50 mL). The combined organic layer was dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give 480 mg (98%) 4-chloro-5-methoxy-2-methoxymethyl-2H-pyridazin-3-one.
