A mixture of the crude product of [4-(4-t-butylcyclohexyl)-3-(4-butylpiperazine-1-yl)phenyl]methanol produced in Example (101a) (294 mg), manganese(IV) oxide (1.3 g, 14.95 mmol) and chloroform (15 mL) was refluxed for 40 minutes. The reaction mixture was filtered and insoluble materials were filtered off. The filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 249 mg of a crude product of the title compound as an ochre oil. This product was directly used without purification for the following reaction.
