Reaction Steps
Doxorubicin hydrochloride, 5,12-Naphthacenedione, (8s-ds)-10-[(3-amino-2,3,6trideoxy-a-L-Iyxo-hexopyranosyl)oxy]-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-6,8,11-trihydroxy-g-(hydroxyacetyl)1-methoxy-hydrochloride (hydroxydaunorubicin hydrochloride, Adriamycin) is used in a wide antineoplastic spectrum. It binds to DNA and inhibits nucleic acid synthesis and mitosis, and promotes chromosomal aberrations.
