6 g of 1-(3-trifluoromethylbenzoyl)-l-methanesulfonyl-2-(N,N-dimethylamino)ethene and 4.6 g of 2,4-difluorobenzamidine hydrochloride were dissolved in 30 ml of methanol at room temperature and 1.2 g of sodium methoxide was added thereto. The resulting mixture was heated under reflux for an hour. The solvent was distilled away under reduced pressure. The residue was washed with water and then dried to obtain 6 g of 2-(2,4-difluorophenyl)-4-(3-trifluoromethylphenyl)-5-methanesulfonylpyrimidine (Compound 147).
