Product from step F (1.54 g; 3.6 mmol) was heated at reflux in methanol (20 ml) and NaOH 2N, (4.5 ml) for 4 hours. Methanol was then evaporated and the solution acidified to pH 6.5. The resulting solid was filtered and dried to give 4-[2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-(5-methylimidazol-1-yl)-prop-1-enyl]-2-phenyl-benzoic acid as a yellow powder (1.4 g; 94%).
