Reaction Steps

In DMF (3 ml) was dissolved 7—(4-methylphenyl)-N-[4—(piperidinomethyl)phenyl]-3,4-dihydronaphthalene-2-carboxamide (400 mg), and to the mixture was added methyl iodide (171 μl). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was recrystallized from ethyl acetate to give 1-methyl-1-[4-[7—(4-methylphenyl)-3,4-dihydronaphthalene-2-carboxamido]benzyl]piperidinium iodide (Compound 16) (490 mg) as colorless crystals.
