A suspension of 4-(4-{3-[4-(2,2,2-trifluoroacetylamino)phenyl]propionyl}-phenyl)piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (2.5 g, 4.95 mmol) in dichloromethane (10 mL) and trifluoroacetic acid (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and diluted with water. The resultant white solid was collected, washed with water, dried in vacuo to give the title compound (1.93 g, 96%). The product was used in the next step without further purification.
