Procedure
BuLi (1.6 M in hexane, 6.25 mL, 10 mmol) was added to a toluene solution (˜15 mL) of (Me2N)2C═NH (1.151 g, 10 mmol) at −78° C. The solution was warmed to 23° C. in 10 minutes and was further stirred for 30 minutes to give a toluene solution of (Me2N)2C═NLi (10 mmol).
