Reaction Steps

To 20.00 g (0.018 mol) of vinylsulfonyl fluoride in 40 ml of anhydrous ether was added 16.00 g (0.24 mol) of freshly prepared cyclopentadiene. The reaction was carried out for 20 min at 0° C. and then allowed to warm up to room temperature. After 24 hours., ether was distilled out at a normal pressure and the residue was distilled under reduced pressure to give a colorless oil (bp=97-99° C./15 torr) in 92% yield. The product was identified by 1H and 13C NMR and IR spectroscopy.
