Reaction Steps
A 100 mL three-neck round-bottom flask equipped with a mechanical stirrer, argon inlet and pressure equalizing addition funnel is charged with ethylacetate (40 mL) and 1 M aqueous solution of potassium carbonate (20 mL, 2 eq). The reaction mixture is cooled in a salt water/ice bath. Methoxyamine hydrochloride (5.06 g, 1 eq) is added to the reaction mixture followed by a dropwise addition of nonanoyl chloride (10.58 g, 1 eq). The reaction stirs at room temperature overnight. The reaction is diluted with ethylacetate and separated from the aqueous. The organic layer is washed with deionized water (1×50 mL), dried over sodium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated under vacuum.
