Reaction Steps

To a solution of the product from Example 134 (0.178 g, 0.32 mmol) in 15 mL of THF was added 5% Pd/C (0.02 g) and 1 mL of pyridine. The mixture was subjected to hydrogenation for 15.5 hours at 20 psi. The crude reaction mixture was evaporated to dryness and purified by chromatography (silica gel, 50% ethyl acetate/hexane). The product was further purified by crystallizing from petroleum ether and toluene to give the title compound (0.089 g, 50%) as a white solid, mp 95-96° C.
