Reaction Steps

As in Example 115, (2E,4Z)-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-decadienoic acid (2.8 g) and 4-nitrophenol (1.71 g) in 20 mL of dichloromethane was reacted with 1,3-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (2.1 g). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours and the usual work up furnished 4.0 g of (2E,4Z)-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-decadienoic acid 4-nitrophenyl ester as an oil.
