Reaction Steps
As in Example 115, (E,E)-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-tridecadienoic acid (4.75 g) and 4-nitrophenol (2.5 g) in 25 mL of dichloromethane was treated with 1,3-dicyclohexylcarbodiimide (3.1 g) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 18 hours. After the usual work up, 4.85 g of (E,E)-5-(4-methoxyphenyl)-2,4-tridecadienoic acid 4-nitrophenyl ester was obtained as an oil.
