Reaction Steps
A solution 4-(7,7,10,10-tetramethyl-7,8,9,10-tetrahydro-5H-5,13-diazabenzo[4,5]-cyclohepta[1,2-b]naphthalen-12-yl)benzoic acid (27) (0.47 mmol) and pyridine (1.2 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (4 mL) is treated with acetyl chloride (1.0 mmol) and stirred at room temperature for 6 h. The mixture is poured into 1 N HCl and extracted with EtOAc. The extract is washed with brine, dried over MgSO4 and evaporated in vacuo. The resulting solid is purified by reversed-phase HPLC (0.1% TFA, 30-100% gradient CH3CN) to give the acid (29).
