2,3-Dihydrofuro[2,3-c]pyridin-5-ylmethanol (1.31 g, 8.7 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (100 ml), treated with manganese (IV) dioxide (6 g, 69 mmol) and heated under reflux for 18 h. Filtration through kieselguhr and evaporation of the filtrate to dryness gave an oil (0.9 g, 70%).
