tert-Butyl 4-{[(3,4-dichloro-5-methyl-1H-pyrrol-2-yl)carbonyl]amino}piperidine-1-carboxylate (Intermediate 2, 1.978 g, 5.257 mol) was treated with 4 M HCl in dioxane (20 ml), and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 1.5 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to give the desired material as a pink solid (1.61 g, 98% yield).
