Methyl 2-{4-[(tert-butoxycarbonyl)amino]piperidin-1-yl}-6-chloroisonicotinate (Intermediate 23, 1.81 g, 4.9 mmol) was dissolved in 4 N HCl/dioxane (200 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 h. The solvent was removed under vacuum to give the title compound (1.5 g).
