Reaction Steps
Solid NaOH (90 mg; 2.3 mmol) was added to a soln of 1-(3-carboxy-phenyl)-5-phenethyl-2-phenyl-1H-pyrrole-3-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (157 mg; 0.357 mmol) in ethylene glycol (2.0 mL) at 160° C. After 1.6 h, the r×n was cooled then quenched with 1 M HCl (5 mL). The product was extracted into EtOAc (3×3 mL) and this soln was washed with water (3×3 mL) and satd NaCl (2×3 mL). After drying over MgSO4, filtration through silica with an EtOAc wash and concd, crude product was obtained. LC-MS 412 ([M+H]+).
