Reaction Steps
To a mixture of Example 17D (202.1 mg, 0.64 mmol) and triethylamine (0.14 mL) in anhydrous dichloromethane (5 mL) was added benzoyl chloride (0.08 mL, 0.64 mmol) dropwise. The mixture was allowed to stir for 6 hours at room temperature and then concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was partitioned between ethyl acetate (30 mL) and H2O (10 mL). The aqueous layer was extracted with ethyl acetate (2×20 mL). The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4), filtered, and concentrated under reduced pressure to an oil, which was chromatographed using a Biotage 40M eluting with 20% hexane/80% ethyl acetate to provide (2S, 4R)-4-(benzoylamino-methyl)-2-(thiazolidine-3-carbonyl)-pyrrolidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester as a brown oil. MS (ESI) m/e 420 (M+H)+, 418 (M−H)−.
