Diisobutylaluminum hydride (1.5 M solution in toluene, 2.12 mL) was added dropwise to a cold (−78° C.) solution of ethyl 5-[5-(4-isobutylphenyl)-1,2,4-oxadiazol-3-yl]pyrazine-2-carboxylate (0.51 g, 1.45 mmol) in toluene (10 mL) and stirred for 0.5 hours at −78° C. The reaction mixture was warmed to 0° C., quenched with 1N HCl (10 mL) and extracted with EtOAc (3×10 mL). The combined organic extracts were dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo to provide the title compound (0.50 g) as a crude orange oil.
