Procedure
1-Chloro-3-iodobenzene (5.0 g, 21 mmol) was stirred at 30° C. Peracetic acid (40%, 8.35 mL, 50.3 mmol) was added drop wise to the solution and the reaction was allowed to stir for 12 h. The white solid that formed was filtered, washed 1 time with 10% acetic acid, and 3 times with hexanes and dried in vacuo to afford the title product (27.5 g, 92%) as a white solid.
