Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of (1R,3S,4S)-3-azido-4-hydroxy-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid methyl ester (2.73 g; CAS 213742-85-9; prepared as described in WO00/09463) at r.t. in methanol (30 ml) was added under an argon atmosphere Pt2O (140 mg). The reaction mixture was hydrogenated over night. The catalyst was filtered off and washed with MeOH. The filtrate was concentrated to give (1R,3S,4S)-3-amino-4-hydroxy-cyclopentanecarboxylic acid methyl ester (2.29 g) as brown oil. MS: 160.3 ([M+H]+).
