| Product | n-Heptyl-3-benzyl thiourea | HCID 12796256 | 105.9% |
Reaction Steps
To a solution of 3.1 grams (0.02 mole) of n-heptyl isothiocyanate dissolved in 25 milliliters of benzene, was added 2.1 grams (0.02 mole) benzylamine. The resulting exothermic reaction resulted in a temperature rise from 24° C. to 35° C. The mixture was then refluxed for 20 minutes on the steam-bath until the mixture reaced neutral pH and the mixture was evaporated under vacuum to yield 5.6 grams of n-heptyl-3-benzyl thiourea, ND30 =1.5513.
