Ethyl (4-{[2-(cyclohexylamino)-1,1-dimethyl-2-oxoethyl]thio}phenoxy)acetate (prepared as example 72) was dissolved in THF/MeOH and treated with an aq. LiOH/H2O solution. The reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 16 h. The volatiles were removed in-vacuo and the residual aq. solution was acidified to pH=2 with a 1 N HCl solution. EtOAc was added and the layers were separated. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to provide the desired carboxylic acid as a white solid. LCMS: (M+H)+=352.2.
