To a stirred solution of 5-[2-(3-ethyl-ureido)-4-methyl-thiazol-5-yl]-2-methoxy benzenesulfonylchloride (Example 28d) (0.2 g, 0.514 mmol) in dioxane (10 ml) is added 2 M Na2CO3 (0.515 ml) followed by 0.5 M NH3 in dioxane (2.06 ml). After 2 hours at room temperature, the reaction mixture is poured into water (200 ml) then extracted with ethyl acetate (3×50 ml). The combined organic layers are dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated to afford 5-[2-(3-ethyl-ureido)-4-methyl-thiazol-5-yl]-2-methoxy-benzenesulfonamide as a yellow powder.
