Procedure
The pH of an 11.3-ml aqueous solution of 0.67M cis-[Pt(NH3)2 (H2O)2 ](NO3)2 was adjusted with sodium hydroxide to 4. Then, 3.0 grams of barium D-galactose-6-phosphate dissolved in 30 ml water were added. The pH of the resulting solution was adjusted to 5.0 with 2 M nitric acid. After stoppering the solution with a porous plug and stirring for 21 days, the above-identified complex which had formed during that time period was recovered as a water-insoluble blue precipitate by the method described in Example 5.
