Procedure
0.1 g of 1,2,3,4,4a,5,12,12a-octahydro-2-(1-hydroxyethyl)-2-hydroxy-6,11-dimethoxy-12-oxo-naphthacene, prepared as described in Example 12, in benzene was treated with 1 g of silver carbonate at refluxing temperature. After filtering off the inorganic solids and removing the solvent, 0.1 g of the title product was obtained.
