A solution of 14 parts of (4-chloro-3-nitrophenyl) (4-fluorophenyl)-methanone in 69 parts of 2-propanamine was stirred overnight at reflux temperature. The reaction mixture was poured into water. The precipitate was filtered off and washed with water, dried, filtered and evaporated, yielding 14.7 parts (97.2%) of (4-fluorophenyl) [4-[(1-methylethyl)-amino]-3-nitrophenyl]methanone as a residue (int. 1).
