A solution of 14.7 parts of (4-fluorophenyl) [4-[(1-methylethyl)-amino]-3-nitrophenyl]methanone in 120 parts of ethanol was hydrogenated at 2.105Pa with 3 parts of Raney nickel catalyst. After the calculated amount of hydrogen was taken up, the catalyst was filtered off over diatomaceous earth and the filtrate was evaporated, yielding 12.3 parts (92.1%) of [3-amino-4-[(1-methylethyl)amino]phenyl] (4-fluorophenyl)-methanone as a residue (int. 2).
