Procedure

52 mg of 2-[2-(2-Amino-4-methylpyridin-6-yl)ethyl]-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine (compound 1) are dissolved in 25 ml of dichloromethane. 2 ml of aqueous acetic acid (50% strength) are added. The mixture is concentrated and coevaporated successively with water and dichloromethane to give 65 mg of the title compound as foam. M.p. 54° C. MS: 254.2 (MH+), 528.8 (2MNa+).
