Procedure

A solution of ethyl 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-7-formyl-2-isopropylpyrrolo[1,2-b]pyridazine-3-carboxylate (100 mg, 0.282 mmol) and sodium borohydride (10.7 mg, 0.282 mmol) in ethanol (1 mL) was stirred for 0.5 h under an ice bath. The mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate (10 mL) and water (5 mL), and the organic layer was washed with brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and evaporated to give ethyl 4-(4-fluorophenyl)-7-hydroxymethyl-2-isopropylpyrrolo[1,2-b]pyridazine-3-carboxylate as an yellow gum (89.1 mg, 89.1%).
