Procedure
630 mg of 1,3-dibromo-2-methoxy-5-pentafluorosulfanylbenzene were stirred in 2 ml of a 90% aqueous HNO3 solution at 0° C. for 1 hour. Subsequently, the mixture was stirred at RT for 20 minutes and then poured onto 50 g of ice. An aqueous Na2CO3 solution was used to adjust to pH=6 and extraction was effected three times with 50 ml each of EA. Drying was effected over Na2SO4 and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. Chromatography on silica gel using 1:3 DIP/HEP afforded 260 mg of a pale yellow oil.
