Reaction Steps
13.9 g (54,7 mmol) N1-benzhydryl-N1,N2-dimethyl-ethan-1,2-diamine, 15.4 g (54.7 mmol) N-(4-bromobutyl)-phthalimide, 15.1 g (109.5 mmol) potassium carbonate and 1.6 g (10.6 mmol) sodium iodide are stirred for four hours in DMF at 70° C. After cooling, the mixture is concentrated under vacuum and the residue is distributed between chloroform and water. The organic phase is dried over sodium sulfate and evaporated under vacuum until dry. The purification occurs by chromatography on silica gel with CHCl3/CH3OH (100/0 to 99/1): Yield 20.8 g (83%).
