4,6-dichloro-5-(p-tolyl)-pyrimidine (717 mg) was dissolved in DMSO (5 ml) and ethanesulfonamide potassium salt (927 mg) was added and stirring continued for 14 h at rt. The solution was poured onto ice/water and acidified by 2 N HCl to pH 3-4. The precipitate was filtered off and washed with water and diethylether to give ethanesulfonic acid (6-chloro-5-p-tolyl-pyrimidin-4-yl)-amide (370 mg) as a white powder. LC-MS: tR: 4.09, [M+H]+: 312.10.
