0.95 g (2.5 mmol) of the product (22-1) of Preparation Example 39 was dissolved in 50 ml of ethanol, and the solution was added with 0.1 g of 10% Pd/C and stirred vigorously under hydrogen pressure of 1-1.2 atm. for 5 hours. After the reaction, Pd/C was filtered out and the filtrate was concentrated under reduced pressure to give 0.72 g of (+)-4-(4-butoxy-5,5,5-trifluoropentyl)phenol (3-23). Yield: 99%; [α]D20 =-2.9° (c=1, CHCl3).
