A 1.5 g (7.46 mmol) sample of (S)-1-BOC-2-pyrrolidinemethanol (from Aldrich) and 1.69 g (11.19 mmol) of 3-acetamidophenol (Aldrich) were added to a complex of TPP and TBAD, (prepared as in Example 5b above, 11.19 mmol of each) in 50 mL of THF. The reaction was stirred for 16 hr, the solvents were removed under vacuum, and the residue was chromatographed on silica gel, eluting with 100:3 chloroform:methanol to give 1.62 g of the title compound.
