Reaction Steps
A 7.9 g portion of triethyl orthopropionate was added to 5.0 g of 3-amino-4-ethyl-1H-pyrazole and the mixture was heated at 120° C. to distill off the thus formed ethanol. After 3 hours of the reaction, the reaction solution was cooled down to room temperature and mixed with 30 ml of methanol, 3.2 g of hydroxylamine hydrochloride and 4.6 g of triethylamine in that order, followed by 3 hours of heating under reflux. After distilling off the solvent under a reduced pressure, the resulting residue was mixed with 150 ml of ethyl acetate and washed twice with water, and the ethyl acetate layer was dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate and concentrated under a reduced pressure. Thereafter, the thus obtained residue was subjected to silica gel column chromatography. Elution with methanol-chloroform (1:20, v/v) gave 3.9 g of N-(4-ethyl-1H-pyrazol-3-yl)propionamidoxime.
