Reaction Steps
To a suspension of 0.50 g of 7-(3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline, 30 ml of anhydrous THF is added 0.061 g of 60% NaH. It is stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes, then allyl bromide 0.206 g is added dropwise into the red mixture. The resulting mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight then poured into water, extracted with methylene chloride and the organic layer is separated, dried (Na2SO4), concentrated in vacuo which gives yellow crude product. This is purified by silica-gel column chromatography using methylene chloride, then changed to 1%-4% acetone/methylene chloride as the solvent system to obtain 1-allyl-7-(3-fluoro-4-methoxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline (m.p. 121°-124° C.) and 2-allyl-7-(3-fluoro-4-methoxy-phenyl)-2H-pyrazolo[3,4-g]quinoxaline (m.p. 196°-200° C.).
