In analogy to GP3, reaction of 1000 mg 6-methanesulfonylmethyl-1-methyl-4-(4-nitro-phenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]pyridine (Intermediate 18.1; 2.89 mmol, 1 eq.) with 3.26 g SnCl2.2H2O (14.46 mmol, 5 eq.) in 56 mL 2.5:1 EtOH/THF at reflux for 3 h yielded after standard work-up the crude aniline which was used without further purification.
