Pyrrolidine (1 mL) was added to the 3-[1-[3-[(methylsulfonyl)oxy]propyl]-1H-indazol-3-yl]-4-[1-(2-naphthalenyl)-1H-indol-3-yl]-1H-pyrrole-2,5-dione (0.5 g, 0.975 mmol) in DMA (10 mL). The mixture was heated to 65° C. for 3 h, then cooled to rt. Water (5 mL) was added, followed by extraction with EtOAc (3×50 mL). The organic layers were combined, washed with H2O and brine, then dried (Na2SO4) and evaporated in vacuo to a dark brown oil. The oil was purified by flash column chromatography (97:3:0.3; DCM:MeOH:NH4OH) to afford Compound 85 (0.1 g, 18%) as an orange flaky solid. Compound 85 was dissolved in excess dilute HCl, then frozen and lyophilized to give the hydrochloride salt. 1H NMR (CD3OD) δ 8.22 (s, 1H), 8.01 (d, J=8.8 Hz, 1H), 7.89 (m, 3H), 7.49 (m, 7H), 7.00 (m, 2H), 6.64 (t, J=7.5 Hz, 1H), 6.39 (d, J=8.1 Hz, 1H), 4.47 (t, J=6.2 Hz, 2H), 3.44 (m, 2H), 3.07 (t, J=7.4 Hz, 2H), 2.82 (m, 2H), 2.16 (m, 2H), 1.93 (m, 4H). ES-MS m/z 566 (MH+). Using the procedure of Example 27 and the appropriate reagents and starting materials known to those skilled in the art, other compounds of the present invention may be prepared including, but not limited to:
