A solution of (1R,2S)-[2-(tert-butyl-dimethyl-silyloxy)-2-(4-chloro-phenyl)-1-methyl-ethyl]-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (354 mg, 0.88 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) at rt was treated with HCl (4 M in dioxane, 3 mL). After 1 h, the mixture was concentrated to provide the desired amine as the hydrochloride salt (200 mg, quant.). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD): 7.43-7.37 (m, 4H), 4.91 (d, J=3.4, 1H), 3.50 (dq, J=6.8, 3.5, 1H), 1.07 (d, J=6.8, 3H).
