Reaction Steps

To a solution of 4-hydroxymethyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-benzo[b]thiepin-5-one (224 mg, 1.08 mmol) in 14 ml of tetrahydrofuran were added, at room temperature, triethylamine (0.16 ml, 1.18 mmol) and 4-bromophenyl isocyanate (0.423 g, 2.15 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, concentrated and purified by column chromatography on silica gel (eluent: 1:2 tert-butyl methyl ether/cyclohexane). The product was obtained in a yield of 250 mg (57%).
