A solution of (3R)-tert-butyl 3-((R)-(2-acetamidoethoxy)(6-fluoro-3′-methylbiphenyl-2-yl)methyl)piperidine-1-carboxylate (80 mg) in 20% TFA/CH2Cl2 (5 mL) was stirred at 0° C. for 30 min. The solvent was neutralized by adding satd aq NaHCO3 and extracted with CH2Cl2 (3×). The combined organic extracts were dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated to give N-(2-((R)-(6-fluoro-3′-methylbiphenyl-2-yl)((R)-piperidin-3-yl)methoxy)ethyl)acetamide (20 mg, 32%).
