Procedure
4-(5-Bromothiophen-2-yl)-5-methyl-2-(methylsulfonyl)pyrimidine (2 g, 6 mmol) in toluene (10 mL) was treated with 1-(2-aminoethyl)imidazolidin-2-one (1.489 g, 10.2 mmol) and the reaction stirred at 120° C. overnight. The volatiles were removed in vacuo and the residue purified by flash chromatography using a gradient of 2 to 10% methanol in dichloromethane to obtain a light yellow solid (1.8 g). MS (M+H)+ 383.
