182 mg (0.41 mmol) of 1-(6-bromo-pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-3-(3,4-dimethyl-benzoyl)-1H-quinolin-4-one in a solution of 3 mL acetic acid and 3 mL concentrated aqueous hydrochloric acid was heated in a sealed tube at 150° C. for 24 h. Purification on reverse-phase HPLC and free-basing gave 95 mg of a white solid: LC-MSD, m/z for C24H20N2O3 [M+H]+=385.1; HPLC retention time: 0.4 min.
