Reaction Steps

To Dowtherm (82 mL) at 250° C. was added ethyl 2-(((4-bromophenyl)amino)methylene)-3-oxohexanoate (700 mg, 6.75 mmol) portionwise and the reaction mixture was stirred for 1.5 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature, and the precipitate was filtered and rinsed with hexanes to afford the desired product (3.73 g, 53%) as a light brown solid.
